So I just saw the clock strike 3 AM instead of 2 AM. I already lost an hour of rest, in addition to staying awake late. First things first – Happy birthday Shankar! 🙂
I spent an hour tackling a game of chess with Shankar, after gifting him a super cool chess board. And I made a cute handmade card with a rose bud painted in watercolors for him for his birthday. After all, the real rose buds dry out, and the painting never does.
I did work on my thesis today writing quite a bit to begin with, after recovering from a bad headache because of all the snow shoveling last night. The need for relaxation was at its peak today and I had my new watercolor palette inviting me to work with it. I wanted to work on something still life, and different. All I usually paint is a bunch of flowers, mostly pink, since I love doing them. This time, I wanted to try my hands on designer fashion illustration. By far I think they are the most girly items to paint besides flowers. I painted a couple of colorful shoes, a bag, and a designer fashion wear combination. I started with imitating some illustrations to get my hands used to painting (I am painting in watercolor after almost 4 months). I then picked a photograph, and created an illustration from it.
I am sharing all of my paintings from the last week. I did most of these just before bed time to unwind from the day’s work and stress. Painting is a great stress reliever. The vibrant colors that spill off of your paint brush give you so much satisfaction after a whole day’s hard work.

Now isn’t that a colorful way to Spring Forward. As far of this stress-buster series, I am eagerly awaiting the Cherry Blossom Festival @ DC. I love pink and what more fun than watching the blooms at the Tidal Basin! I wouldn’t miss it for the world!
